Pep Guardiola Expected To Extend City Contract Beyond 18-19

Oct 30, 2017 12:06 PM

Pep Guardiola is nearly halfway through his initial three-year deal with Manchester City that expires after the 18-19 season.

While Guardiola hasn't begun extension talks, it is expected he will remain beyond his current term.

Guardiola is expected to discuss adding a fourth season on his contract at the end of the current season.

Sources say Guardiola feels he does not have enough time remaining on his existing contract to accomplish everything he wants at City. Guardiola not only wants to win championships, but also lay the foundation for the future of the club.

Alvaro Morata Never Wanted To Leave Juventus

Oct 30, 2017 9:55 AM

Alvaro Morata preferred to remain with Juventus instead of returning to Real Madrid for one season before his move to Chelsea.

Morata was sold by Real Madrid in 2014 for €22 million but they activated their buy-back option when he became one of the world's best strikers.

"There were contractual agreements to respect, but the disappointment was enormous -- I found myself right back where I had started," Morata said. "They treated me like the lad that I was before my two years in Italy.

"My two years at Juve were fantastic. I was just a lad when I arrived and I was a real footballer when I left. For a Spaniard, Italy is the best place to live. You've got all the beauty, history, art, good food and fashion.

"I would never have left Italy and Juve."

Morata scored 15 goals in 26 appearances for Real Madrid in his one year back.

"I came here because they have a coach like Antonio Conte," he said. "We started to talk about me possibly coming here last spring and, in the end, I actually came to London. There were a series of situations that were favourable, starting with the coach -- I knew Conte and I had no problems fitting into his ideas of football.

"[Conte] is demanding, but he gets the best out of his players' strengths. You can tell that he knows what it is like to be at a big club, first as a player, then as a coach."

Carlo Ancelotti Interested In Return To Premier League

Oct 30, 2017 9:53 AM

Carlo Ancelotti has publicly suggested he would welcome a return to the Premier League.

"I want to be given an opportunity to create a project and work serenely, even if ours is a job which doesn't allow you serenity, but that's normal.

"It takes just one bad result and the pressure rises, but I'm waiting -- I'm not in a rush.

"The Premier League's interesting in certain aspects -- there's a great atmosphere in the stadium, but they're also advanced in that respect in Germany.

"I don't know what could be the best solution -- I can easily see myself at any club. I like football and I like coaching so, for as long as I have this passion, any job will do."

There have been reports that Ancelotti could return to Chelsea to replace Antonio Conte.

"There's something new every day.

"First there was talk of Chelsea and my friend Antonio, who I speak to a lot and he gets mad [about the rumours], then there was China, Everton.

"I'm waiting for June 30 and then we'll see what opportunities there are."

Claude Puel Wants To 'Seduce' Riyad Mahrez To Stay With Leicester

Oct 29, 2017 9:40 AM

Claude Puel wants to "seduce" Riyad Mahrez into continuing his stay at Leicester City.

Mahrez submitted a transfer request in the summer and has been linked with Arsenal and Barcelona.

"It is down to me to make these players want to stay by the fact we are playing good football.

"I have always got to attract them, to seduce them. It is down to me to create that environment where these players want to thrive and stay and be happy and to enjoy themselves.

"It is normal for a player, if they win the title and play Champions League, that sometimes there is disappointment, frustration because now they know the high level."

Mesut Ozil '100 Percent' Committed To Arsenal

Oct 28, 2017 8:59 AM

Mesut Ozil is without a contract with Arsenal beyond the current season but he says it will not impact his commitment to the club.

"I'm happy here, and I do my job to 100 percent as I always have. I give everything and leave it all on the pitch for the team," Ozil said. "The most important thing is football. I want to give everything, 100 percent for this club. It's important for me to give my all and enjoy playing as well. Whatever else happens, we will see in the future."

While a source said Ozil hasn't ruled out remaining with Arsenal, he has also been linked to Manchester United.

Stan Kroenke publicly said this week he hopes Arsenal re-signs Ozil and Alexis Sanchez.

"It's very nice to hear that [Kroenke's comments] and to see that -- he's the major shareholder," Ozil said.

Jose Mourinho Interested In Managing National Team Before Retirement

Oct 28, 2017 8:57 AM

Jose Mourinho would like to manage a national team at some point before he retires from managing.

Mourinho is currently holding talks on an extension with Manchester United, which has led him to discuss other potential jobs publicly.

"There will be a moment in my career where I would prefer that nature of job, being more analytical and preparing a team inside doors but competes less," said Mourinho.

"The experience of living a World Cup or European Championship from the inside is an experience I want to have after so many years I've had in football."

Mourinho nearly took the England job a decade ago.

Antonio Conte Enraged By Rumors Of Mutiny, Carlo Ancelotti

Oct 27, 2017 12:50 PM

Antonio Conte hit back at reports that suggested Chelsea's players are upset with his training methods and that Carlo Ancelotti could be brought back to the club.

“There is a lot of (expletive),” Conte said. “If I see the past it happened the same with a lot of managers. A lot of bullshit. They try to create problems between me, the club and the players. If someone is happy to continue to write this I answer very well in the past. I am answering very well about these different issues.”

One report claimed some players contacted for Conte's former No. 2, Steve Holland, to express their dissatisfaction with Conte's demands in trainings.

“This is a lack of respect,” Conte said. “I can accept to write the club is ready to sack me and the story with the players. I can accept this but to put another person in this way I think this is incorrect and it is not good that this person has to send me a message to tell me: ‘I am sorry but this is not true, I am sorry, if you want to do an interview, I am ready.’ Why put another person in this (expletive)? If you want to hit me, hit me. This is incorrect and I hate this type of situation.”
